Zoë Harris – Conductor
Zoë Harris, from Raleigh NC, has been playing 13 years. Music was something she grew up listening to and completed her weekend chores to as a child. She started teaching music to other students when she was a freshman in high school through a music mentoring program where she discovered her love for teaching. She is very thankful to have had Lisa Burn as her band director and trumpet teacher who taught her from 5th-12th grade. Because of her teacher, she was exposed and introduced to some outstanding classical and jazz musicians before entering college. Zoë was a member of the Central Region All-District Jazz Clinic her last 2 years of high school.
Zoë is a graduate of the University of North Carolina Wilmington, where she received a degree in Music Education after completing her middle school student teaching semester. While at UNC-Wilmington, she was able to perform in the Big Band Ensembles, Jazz Combos, Wind Symphony, Chamber Winds and conduct the school’s Pep Band during the basketball season. She is now attending North Carolina Central University, pursuing a Masters in Jazz Composition.
